Happenings and Goings on

Hey there, it's been awhile since I've posted here. The usual excuses (plus a few others) apply.

Anyway here's a few updates with regards to the local mountain bike scene:
  • There's a Montana-wide site dedicated to growing and solidifying the greater Montana mountain bike community. It's completely non-profit and all information is user-generated. Check it out (and join, and contribute) at montanamountainbike.ning.com. You can also follow on Twitter: @MontanaMtnBike
  • This Monday head to Room 233, Strand Union Building at MSU at 6pm for a discussion about the future of land access in Montana. It's important. Very important. Learn about what's in store for us if we keep being chill and laid back. Better yet, speak up and make something happen. Here's the poster (.pdf).
  • There will be trail work this year, including some Sunday dates, so if you're a shop guy there shouldn't be much excuse to not go. Work this year will include everything from brush-clearing maintenance sessions to full-on trail building.
I'll keep this site up as long as there's still traffic. But I am going to focus a bit more on the MMBN site. Otherwise that's about it. Get out and ride, stay off soft trails nad say hi to hikers and horses.

Grassy Mountain to the first overlook

Grassy mountain from Bracket Creek trail head is clear for a couple miles, maybe 3. When you get to the first overlook of the Crazy's looking east thats about it. After that the trail looks like it needs a few weeks yet. Soon though!

Riding is Good!

Rode Stone Creek today. It is in great shape until the last switchbacks before the top. Went about 4 miles up today and the trail is dry. Snow on the upper switchbacks.
Sypes is riding good right now. Some wet spots but still in great shape. Sam Carlson rode the M to Sypes and said it was great.
Leverich is dry for the climb. There is a work day there on sunday to buff out the climb. I don't know when the downhill will open up.
Helena is riding so good right now. Spent the last two saturdays up there riding and drinking at the Blackfoot Brewery.
I'm heading to Grassy tomorrow evening and if that is too wet I will cruise on over to South Cottonwood. I hope everyone is getting excited to ride cause it is getting good!!!!!

Anything Dry out there?

I heard the east climb up Leverich was so dry it was dusty, but the DH has snow drifts still. Lewis & Clark & Pipestone (homestake - Down) are both very dry as well. Anything else out there dry enough to ride responsibly? Katie and I rode the In-town World Cup (Main Street to Mountains) loops after house projects and Barbeques yesterday - they were as awsome as they could possibly be, but I would enjoy something a bit more stimulating toward the end of the week. Comment away...

lewis and clark caverns are dry. I rode the bottom half of stormcastle a week ago and it was really good, I am thinking of trying again some evening this week.
