Pipestone

Let's kick this off with an actual trail condition report, shall we?

This past Sunday Casey and I headed out to Pipestone on an exploratory mission. We had just gotten done skiing in about 20" of nice, fresh (yet very cold) snow at Bridger, so we were a bit unsure as to what we would find 60ish miles west.

There was snow, but only about 3 inches of some of the lightest powder I've ever seen. Riding was fun yet a bit challenging. The sandy soil of the area apparently was dry so it had not frozen solid, and the riding tended to churn the sand and snow together. This resulted in less traction than I was expecting, but did make for a fun drifty feel on the downhills.
We rode for about 3 miles, heading up the road from the tracks and ducking off onto a trail on the right, a bit before the four corners area. We took a double track back to the truck.
The desire was there to go further, but the -8 degree temps kept us from feeling our toes and forcing us to curtail our ride.
I expect Pipestone to be nicely ridable (but probably a bit wet) when the temps come up a bit.
